2022: CERTAINTY AND SURPRISES

2022 is going to end soon and to Baglio Diar it has been better than expected. After a very complex 2021, 2022 started with best wishes from the beginning of the year.

Among the first great news of the year, it has been the comeback of the wine fairs which are essential to get known wineries and wines that are not particularly popular yet. On the other hand, online fairs, which are still a good option, can not guarantee the same emotion, involvement and visibility as an international event such as Vinitaly or Prowein.

Another important change this year was the absence of other blocks to commercial activities and the relative working continuity of the HoReCa channel has resulted in an increase in consumption also in the wine business. A better international health condition in 2022 has produced also a return to more heterogeneous tourism. After a year like 2021 when tourism was more national, looking at 2022 can be stated that there is a return to frequent trips and many foreign visitors came back to visit wineries more regularly.

Within the return to normality of the first semester of 2022, Baglio Diar has managed to find new importers and get into new markets. The organic wines of the Sicilian winery nowadays are placed in nine different foreign countries between Europe and others where are gaining increasing interest.

During 2022 Baglio Diar products were awarded by international rankings like Decanter where all the wines of the main selection were priced with medals. Recently Baglio Diar also got into the two most important guidebooks in Italy regarding wine and food called Gambero Rosso and Bibenda which every year select the best national wines among thousands of different ones.

Saying this year would have been better than the previous one maybe was obvious but 2022 has been particularly good to Baglio Diar thanks to a fast and efficient development which has led to double the bottlings of 2021 and an increase in the annual revenue.

In Italy Baglio Diar wines are sold and appreciated in the HoReCa channel of nine different regions. Moreover, the attendance of Baglio Diar in wine fairs for amateurs and tourists visiting the shop in Marsala has generated a relevant amount of loyal private customers that benefit from delivery directly from the winery.

After a good 2022, Baglio Diar looks at 2023 with cautious optimism but, at the same time, with particular attention. Although the results achieved are encouraging, there are higher expectations on the young winery from Marsala that, for this reason, will have to work with even more humility and resilience to keep progressing in its journey.
